Local Farmers Markets bring the best of our region's seasonal fruits, veggies, flowers, jams, cheeses, and even meats to our own neighborhoods. While each one has its own vibe, they each offer their own fun social, culinary, or even artistic experience and a great opportunity to support some of our local small businesses. From making a quick pit-stop on your way home to building an entire day around a trip to the morning market, followed by a yummy brunch in town, a stroll by the river, and live entertainment along King Street from one of the local buskers. A visit to one of our local markets is a great way to enjoy and support our community.

Market Square
Saturday, 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Year Round
Truly one of my favorite weekend things to do in Old Town (Saturdays, rain or shine, 7am - 12noon)! Thought to be the oldest farmers' market in the country held continuously at the same location, it's definitely a local favorite. During peak season there are more than 70 vendors that converge upon Market Square with their fruits, veggies, flowers, pastries, jams, cheeses, meats, and even some local artists & jewelers. I found the coolest antique wooden chest there years ago.
Market Square Parking Garage even offers free parking on Saturdays, during market hours.
Sherwood Hall Library
Wednesday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Apr. 20 - Dec. 21, 2022
This is one of TEN of Fairfax County Park and Recreations' Farmers Markets. This one happens to be the closest to me, of the FFX Co Farmers Markets, and has really grown in popularity over recent years. Located in the Sherwood Hall Regional Library parking lot (corner of Sherwood Hall & Parkers Lanes) they are open on Wednesdays from 8am - 12noon and have a surprising array of vendors, offering a variety of fruits, veggies, honey, breads, and meats. I like to stop in for the homemade dog treats!
Pat Miller Square
Saturday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Year Round
The Del Ray Farmers' Market has been a local favorite for 27 years! During peak season there are more than 20 vendors offering fresh fruits, veggies, flowers, meats, eggs, cheeses, and baked goods! Located at Pat Miller Square, on the corner of E Oxford and Mt Vernon Avenues, they are open every Saturday from 8a - 12noon. They are currently offering, and encouraging, pre-ordering...one of the many adjustments people have been creatively making as a result of the COVID awareness. Check out their website for more details!
